River Jamboree (continued)

What exactly would you call this contraption? A bounce-house? An inflatable slide? Whatever it was, Juliette LOVED it!

Juliette saw her teacher from Sporties for Shorties and decided that the picture she was coloring was going to be for her. Several minutes later we caught her with her to present her with it. Juliette had no interest in getting her face painted, even though she saw two of her friends get theirs' done.

A representative was there from the New Hampshire Audubon Society. Did you know they actually use these Red-Tailed hawks in a sport?!

According to this guy, each competetor sets their hawk free and whichever one comes back with the most prey wins the prize...sounds like a sport for the hawks, but not for the men/women.

And lastly, a little ice cream from Arnie's. This place is located on Loudon road and I can honestly say I've never been there, but their homemade ice cream is awesome! Arnie gave us a free token for a regular sized ice cream as an incentive to go there.

They had a really cool activity where you were given a string to make a bracelette and in order to make on you had to goes through these stations: ocean, river, plants, animals, cloud, etc etc and at each station you would get a bead and in order to change stations you would roll this dice that would bring you to a new station or stay at the one you previously were at. Juliette loved looking for the symbols on the dice and matching it to the station and then adding another bead. They also had a demonstration about run-off with a scaled-down model a landscape with farms, houses, roads etc. I really think Juliette enjoyed the River Jamboree, we'll definately go again next year! The 8th Annual River Jamboree

We heard about the River Jamboree through the Concord Recreation website, the same division which organizes the Sporties for Shorties, Ballet/Tap, and Tumbling classes Juliette has done. This is there 8th year hosting this little children's festival which has games, bounce-house, kayaking, face painting, crafts, educational programs, a children's band, live animals, and delicious food and ice cream! Did I mention that all of this is FREE?! (Aside from the ice cream and food).This is a picture of Juliette paddling the kayak we were in.

Still Picking

There are still a ton of delicious ripe strawberries waiting to be picked at Apple Hill Farm in Concord, NH! We went again and picked another eight pounds in about 10 minutes. I swear these ones tasted better then the last berries we picked! They are the perfect combo of sweet with a little bit of tang. Delicious!

Up at 8 a.m. This was the first time it hadn't rained in about 2 weeks so the fields were littered with people.
Now, if I could only resist from eating them so I could have enough to make freezer jam! Too late, they're all gone! We'll probably pick one last time before the blueberry season arrives (in about two weeks).

Opening Day

Now that school is out, the public pools are now open! Unfortunately, out of the last 23 days it has rained 18 of them, so the pools have not been available to swim in. Until today...a day with no rain! In this picture Juliette is trying to keep a smile on her face after scraping her chin on the cement. She did this after she tried to walk with a giant towel around her. It didn't work out so well.
From the time Juliette was born she has always love water. She was very excited to go swimming (finally). She told me that I was the bestest mommy she's ever had.

According to this pool, hanging on the bar is not allowed, but it made for a cute picture!

I've never lived in a town/city where they had free public pools. Bangor had a couple, but had fees to get in. Concord has 7!

Little Explorers

Today I took Juliette and her friends (Eden and Avi) to the Discovery Center for the Little Explorers program. Its a forty-five minute class designed for preschool-aged children. During that time they make projects related to space that they are able to take home with them. Unfortunately, the class only occurs once a month.

This months project was about the moon. They glued a picture of the moon on cardboard paper then used black and white clay to outline the volcanic ash areas on the moon (black areas).

The children volunteered to be planets and moons to demonstrate how the earth revolves around the sun and how the moon revolves around the earth while revolving around the sun. Did you get that? It was cute and Juliette loved it!

Build your own space craft and then make it go using motors.

Something to Blog About

Last night my husband found out that he was accepted into the Daniel Webster Scholar Honors Program. The program is a two-year bar practicum that'll allow him to immediatly practice law after graduation without having to take the New Hampshire bar.
